Enrollment: It is that time of year again! Enrollment for the 2012 -2013 school year is now open. Don’t forget, the earlier your child is re – enrolled, the lower your enrollment fee will be. Also, we are excited to offer $1500 off all 6th grade tuition for this upcoming year.  Chloe, won the summer camp t-shirt  design contest held at Redeemer Lutheran Church and School over spring break. Congratulations Chloe!

THANK YOU: We had a successful work party on April 21 to lay 18 pallets of sod on the playground, build screen  walls around the dumpster, and do some minor electrical repairs. The Lord  provided cooperative weather (cloud cover but no rain!) while wedid the work. Though the work was hard, we persevered and managed to have some good  fellowship time and laughs throughout. The Board extends its thanks the  following volunteers: Kevin Braley, Bernie Carpinellie, Justin Cruz, Kristen  Cruz, Lou Gosewisch, Blaise Hanley, Rob Hanley, Skylar Hanley, Amy Henrichs,  Robby Henrichs, Karen McCarthy, Matthew McCarthy, Don Panhorst, Pete Peterson,  Jerome Ruiz, and Jerry Schaumburg. Classroom Connection! Each Month we will feature a new classroom so everyone can see how much our students are learning, enjoying and sharing! This month we are featuring Fourth Grade:

The Fourth Graders had a fantastic trip to St. Augustine! Our Florida study “comes alive” as we visit a number of the sites that we study in class.Our first stop was the Old Florida Museum. The students learned about the life of early settlers in St. Augustine and had fun with hands-on activities which included dipping candles, playing games that children enjoyed in by-gone days, and weaving the strips of wood that were used to make the walls of early homes. Boarding a tram, students had a great tour of the city. Students got a view of the place where Ponce de Leon first stepped ashore in Florida and the site of the “Fountain of Youth”.Flagler College and the churches that Henry Flagler helped establish were also highlighted on the tour. A visit to the Spanish Military Hospital caused a few to have “queasy” stomachs as they heard about early medical treatment for the soldiers who help defend St. Augustine during the many attacks on the early settlement. Early medicines used to treat the sick surprised many as they learned about the “herbs and bugs” that were part of the medical treatment used in days of old. The visit to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum was the next stop of the day. The trip to the top of the lighthouse gave the chaperones and students a great view of the city and the ocean.Students heard how the lighthouse guided the sailors of long ago, and is still a beacon to boaters today. The Castillo de San Marcos ended our day in St. Augustine. Having studied the construction of the fort and the many countries that had control of it over the years, the students were excited to hear stories of the way the fort was used to keep the people of the settlement safe from the many attacks they experienced.The shooting of the cannon, the flag room, the barrack rooms and the room where Osceola was held captive all brought the study of the Castillo to life. The students had a great day seeing first-hand many of the things studied in class. What a great way to make history come alive!

Redeemer Lutheran School proudly presents our 2012 Summer Camp “Rocky Point Lighthouse!” We invite all community members ages 12 months through 5th Grade to participate in our camp, and help us shine God’s light to those in need.
